Muscatine, 'The Pearl of the Mississippi," as it is affectionately known in the area, is truly a Midwestern gem. The town has unique, historic roots, and the current residents of Muscatine know how to honor them. Many times throughout the year you will find community events that are held in Muscatine's Downtown District and pay homage to the town's storied past.  Agents in our Muscatine office shared the events they look forward to attending weekend after weekend, month after month, and year after year.

Fairs & Markets

The Muscatine Area Farmers Market is open every Saturday starting in May and ending in October. The market is open from 7:30 am - to 11:30 am and is located in the heart of Muscatine. The Farmers Market brings a large variety of vendors which keeps the experience fresh and fun. Also fresh is the produce and baked items found each weekend. Come for the fruits and veggies, stay for the music and family fun entertainment! Muscatine's County Fair is almost as old as the town itself! The four-day fair has everything from well-known music performers to livestock events, auctions, races, rides and a crowd favorite, fair food!  For those looking to blow off some steam, sign up for the Watermelon Stampede! This local race consists of a 5k and 10k where both races start and stop in Downtown Muscatine on 3rd and Sycamore. There is also a Kids Watermelon StampedeThe event is held in August which makes this race a beautiful time to tour the town and get your cardio in at the same time. You can find pricing and registration for the race here.

Muscatine Community Events

Music & Entertainment

Arden Creek Winery hosts a summer series called Music in the Vineyard. What's better than an outdoor event with great weather, wine, and music? Almost nothing.  With just over 4 acres of land, there is enough space for a large gathering of music lovers! Keep Muscatine Beautiful presents the Almost Friday Fest an event that happens once a month starting on one of the last Thursdays of the month and features live music, food, beverages, and kids' activities. It's fun for the whole family. The event is hosted at the Muscatine River Front venue and runs from 5:00-8:00 pm. Jackson Concert Series is a concert series that invites talented musicians from the region to come and play for Muscatine residents to enjoy for free! Find upcoming times here. The Jackson Concert series has been running since 1981 and there is no end in sight.

For those who enjoy symphonic music, you must check out the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra. The goal of the association is to enrich the Greater Muscatine Community with exposure to "symphonic music of the highest quality" while simultaneously providing music education to those in the community who seek it. The Muscatine Symphony Orchestra Association is run by a voluntary board of community leaders who have a strong passion to attract high-caliber musicians to the area and they have done a magnificent job. The Holiday Stroll is a festive event that has been a winter favorite in Muscatine for over three decades! Many downtown stores participate and decorate their storefronts in a winter Holiday theme. You'll find your cold-weather staples like hot chocolate and beautiful lights but you'll want to stick around for the candy cane hunt and the community Christmas tree! If summer events are more your idea of a good time, add the Almost Fireworks Fest on the Muscatine Riverfront to your calendar! The event runs from 3 to 8 p.m. and will include a variety of activities and entertainment…and of course awesome fireworks!

Feel Good Events

United Way Day of Caring - Day of Caring exemplifies Living United when students join with local civic and community groups to connect with others in the Louisa Muscatine community who need our help. Kash for Kritters, an animal adoption drive for the Muscatine Humane Shelter. The purrfect event for those looking to get involved in community events and help animals find their forever homes!
