The Quad Cities region is one of the largest metropolitan areas spanning Illinois and Iowa, offering a unique blend of opportunity, affordability, and community. Recognized as a Top 10 Place for Millennials to Live and ranked the #3 Best Affordable Place to Live by U.S. News & World Report, the Quad Cities combine the benefits of a larger metro area with a relaxed, approachable lifestyle. While the region has a population of nearly 400,000 residents, it still maintains a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like home.

Residents enjoy a supportive environment that encourages growth, connection, and long-term success.

The Quad Cities include five primary cities: Rock Island, East Moline, and Moline in Illinois, along with Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa. Together, they offer a wide range of amenities, including diverse job opportunities, strong educational resources, a variety of housing options, vibrant nightlife, and extensive outdoor recreation. Whether you’re starting a career, raising a family, or looking for a place to settle down, the Quad Cities provide a well-rounded and welcoming place to call home.

Quad Cities History

In 1832, General Winfield Scott and Sauk Chief Keokuk signed a treaty that brought an end to the Black Hawk War, opening the region to increased settlement. As riverboat transportation proved reliable and efficient, more settlers were drawn to what would become the Quad Cities. During the Industrial Revolution, developers recognized the area’s potential, using the power of the Mississippi River to support growing industries.

A major turning point came in 1848, when John Deere relocated his operations to Moline, helping establish the region as a center for manufacturing and economic growth. To further support westward expansion and transportation, the Rock Island Railroad Company constructed the first bridge across the Mississippi River in 1856, solidifying the Quad Cities as a key hub for commerce and development.
