1. You can afford a home - a real one with a nice backyard.
Look! Here's mine! All of my friends have houses too - and we've had ours for awhile. You don't have to wait until you are mid-career to own here. Plus, my commute is 10 minutes! (10 minutes! Sometimes I ride my bike!)

2. The people are kind and nice. Really, the best.
To my NYC friends - I love you! You know I do. It's just that people in Iowa are really special - super special people. They care and focus on being as kind and caring as possible. It's kind of amazing.

3. Iowa loves families!
We work hard here. We really do. However, we may be working at our computer with our kids next to us. Children are a part of every event and almost everywhere we go is child-friendly. Even my boss hugs my son when he visits!

4. No traffic. Sometimes we think there is traffic here - but it only lasts 15 minutes. It's really amazing!
Sorry Iowa friends -- I know you get frustrated with a bit of traffic. But the lack of a zipper merge is really nothing in comparison to waiting for one hour and a half just to see the George Washington Bridge or being in gridlock for one hour on the FDR Drive. Trust me, we have it good.

5. There is always a prime parking space free.
There is always one free (or at least most of the time) close to the store/event venue, etc. I still can't believe my eyes each time I see one - it's like finding a four-leaf every time! True confession - if it's there, I will take it. I haven't gotten all of the East Coast out of me yet. I mean - it's a prime space!

Bonus tip from Kaitlyn who moved from Boston to Iowa….
You can buy booze anywhere --- literally. Pharmacies. Random festivals. In almost any store. It's amazing!
